Sharpen your bar and barre skills
A charity that connects vulnerable youth with mentors will hold two virtual fundraisers throughout the remainder of June.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda will hold Barre, Bar, or Both for those who wish to sharpen their bartending skills or have a full-body workout.
Said Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, the director of BBBS Bermuda: “We want to hold fundraisers that anyone could get into but are different than what they might usually see.
“We think that this is a great opportunity to have people help out young people while also taking on new interests.”
Ryan Gibbons will host Bar: Mixology Class and teach attendees how to sharpen their mixology skills while he makes three drinks including a mocktail. Entertainer Nadanja Bailey will be his taste tester.
Those who register for the class will receive a list of necessary ingredients.
BodyBarre will feature a “low-impact and full-body” workout session hosted by Alanah Bacon, an instructor with In Motion School of Dance.
The 45-minute session will involve callisthenics and light weightlifting exercises with the use of household items. A yoga mat, a chair and a towel, as well as a soup can or water bottle for weightlifting exercises are all required.
• Bar: Mixology Class takes place today at 6pm and BodyBarre next Thursday, at 5.45pm. E-mail bbs@bbbs.bm to receive a link to the virtual classes.
Registration closes the day before the start of each class.
Each class requires a minimum $25 donation
