The Ministry of Public Works issued statements advising of work on North Shore Road and in the area of Harrington Sound Road:

North Shore Road

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that North Shore Road near Shelly Bay Beach in Hamilton Parish is still undergoing embankment repairs that will require a portion of the railway trail and a one-lane closure on North Shore Road eastbound lane to be extended.

This lane closure and portion of railway trail closure will be extended from Friday, June 26, 2020 through Friday July 17, 2020. Working hours will be from 8:00am to 3:30pm, weekly Monday through Friday.

The railway trail will be closed from Shelly Bay Beach all the way heading west to North Shore Road embankment steps across from Home Port Drive.

Motorists are encouraged to seek detour routes via Harrington Sound Road and asked to take precaution when heading east on North Shore Road near Shelly Bay Beach. Pedestrians are advised to avoid this railway trail section and to utilise North Shore Road.

Traffic controls will be under direction of Ministry of Public Works representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals and signs.

Motorists are reminded to proceed with caution and avoid speeding when passing through this construction area.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full co-operation of the public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.

The trench work will only affect the eastbound lane with 200’ section lengths at a time.

This lane closure will take place during Monday, July 6, 2020 through Friday, October 2, 2020. Working hours will be from 8:00am to 6:00pm, weekly Monday through Sunday.
