Rosewood Bermuda, the island’s premier luxury resort, partnered with Bermudian singer-songwriter, Heather Nova, to support Family Centre, a local charity that has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The resort collaborated with Heather, whose tour in Europe was canceled due to the pandemic, to host an intimate dinner series at the Beach Club exclusive for members of Tucker’s Point, which kicked off on July 5 and followed all health and safety regulations. Collectively, the property raised more than $4,000 USD for Family Centre. These funds are especially important for Family Centre at this time, as they continue to support children and families who have been greatly affected by the pandemic, through both their programming and services as well as providing emergency relief for day-to-day expenses such as groceries, utilities and rent.

Rosewood Bermuda’s fundraising initiative is the property’s most recent effort under Rosewood Raise, a comprehensive relief initiative developed in support of Rosewood Hotel Group’s associates who have been impacted by COVID-19, as well as the communities in which the Group operates. Rooted on the foundation of Relationship Hospitality, a belief that true hospitality springs from the nurturing and building of strong and lasting relationships with associates, guests, partners and communities, Rosewood Hotel Group has always recognized and revered the power of people in creating the exceptional experiences that drive the industry. In April 2020 Rosewood Bermuda hosted a food drive to provide meals to over 200 essential personnel of the Bermuda Regiment.

“We are thrilled that our local community came together to help those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sascha Hemmann, managing director of Rosewood Bermuda. “Family Centre provides essential programs and initiatives to support Bermudian families and children in need, and we are proud to be able to support their work during this difficult time.”

For the past thirty years, Family Centre has provided critical intervention services to children suffering from emotional, social, behavioural and trauma-based challenges. Through specialized programs and prevention initiatives, the Centre provides families with the skills they need to be successful, operating with the primary mission of creating a healthier Bermuda for future generations.

Dr. Sandy De Silva, Executive Director of Family Centre said, “We were thrilled when Rosewood Bermuda contacted us to advise us that they wanted to provide proceeds from their wonderful event series to Family Centre. The funds received from Rosewood Bermuda will help to sustain critical free therapeutic services and programmes to vulnerable children and families in Bermuda. Family Centre is truly humbled to be selected by Rosewood Bermuda, especially as local charities are having a challenging time fundraising within this new environment we find ourselves in.”

Rosewood Bermuda reopened for overnight guests on July 2, along with al fresco dining and curbside takeout from Sul Verde, the resorts’ Italian restaurant. Facilities including The Beach Club, Tucker’s Point Golf Course and the Tennis Centre are open exclusively to overnight guests and Tucker’s Point members. The resort remains dedicated to operating at the highest levels of health and safety vigilance in accordance with the Bermuda Ministry of Health and Commitment to Care, Rosewood Hotel Group’s new global health and safety program guided by local and international health experts.
