Rotarians donate to Family Centre
Members of Sandys Rotary Club have donated $14,500 to Family Centre to support programmes and services for children and families.
Jack Durner, the president of Sandys Rotary, said: “Sandys Rotary membership is pleased to present Family Centre with this cheque to ensure children and families in Bermuda continue to receive therapeutic care especially as the community tries to adjust to the challenges of Covid-19.”
Sandy De Silva, the executive director of Family Centre, and Martha Dismont, the organisation’s former executive director, accepted the donation on the group’s behalf.
Dr De Silva said: “We are grateful to Sandys Rotary for selecting our organisation as a charity to support. Martha Dismont received the fantastic news from Barry Shailer, Sandys Rotary community service director, just before retiring on June 30.
“As an organisation we were thrilled and Martha and I both wanted to be present to thank Sandys Rotary for their wonderful generosity.
“Charities were hard hit as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and these funds given by individual members of Sandys Rotary helps us continue to strengthen families through delivery of our advocacy, outreach and counselling programmes and services especially during this very challenging time.”
