Social media scam warning
The public was today warned to ignore social media messages from people who impersonated Government ministers.
A Government spokesman said: “One of the latest examples is a fake social media profile – bearing the likeness of Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs the Hon Walter Roban – sending harassing messages to locals claiming ‘The UN is willing to give every individual at least $30,000 against the pandemic … We have our personal agent in charge of the grant cash. I can send you his link so you can text him and claim yours’.”
The spokesman added: “Such messages are not legitimate and should not be responded to.”
