Travellers in need of biometric scans for visas to Britain must travel overseas as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Government House advised last night.
The service, which had been available in Bermuda, is at present available only at British visa services in the United States and Canada.
It is generally required by travellers holding neither full British passports nor British Overseas Territories passports.
But a Government House spokeswoman said visa waivers could be applied for on compassionate grounds, if the reason for making the journey was exceptional.
She added: “Government House is working hard to find a wider solution to the problem and will let people know as soon as there is progress.”
