Animal magic at aquarium
The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo has reopened all its attractions to the public.
The Flatts institution was closed for 113 days and opted to reopen in a phased approach — the aquarium opened at the start of July and the zoo a week later.
But Robbie Smith, the BAMZ curator, said that Covid-19 restrictions were still in place to help manage the flow of customers.
Dr Smith said: “We are still regulating people’s arrival so we don’t end up congested.
“We want people to use the reservation system so they are spread out on arrival — people can pick and choose a time and it helps us to manage people.”
He added: “We still need to maintain a list of everyone who comes in.”
Dr Smith said that the pandemic had delayed plans to import new animals, but that they would arrive on the island when they could be transported.
The aquarium opens at 10am, with the last admission at 4pm. It is expected to resume its usual 9am opening time in the near future.
