Enjoy a Taste of Bermuda
The City of Hamilton’s Taste of Bermuda drive-through culinary experience is just two short weeks away. The event will feature three nights of food and films to take place in the Par-la-Ville Car Park. The public is reminded that entry for each night of the event is via receipts totalling at least $25.00 from any City of Hamilton eatery.
Taste of Bermuda lead coordinator, Allison Tucker, said, “Due to the pandemic and the subsequent changes that restaurants have adapted to, it’s more challenging to get people in their doors. The City knew that we had to do something to assist them. By requiring receipts from Hamilton eateries as entry to Taste of Bermuda, it’s our way of encouraging the public to support City restaurants. By saving receipts for lunches, dinners, take-away, smoothies, sandwiches, coffees, glasses of wine, etc., those planning to attend the event can earn their entry into the event in no time.”
Taste of Bermuda attendees will need to present receipts totaling at least $25.00 for entry into each night of the event. Entry is per car, not per person. Upon entry, the receipts will be collected and entered into a raffle for great prizes. Those without a receipt will not be permitted into the event.
Ms. Tucker added, “This is the first large scale event the City has been able to host since the pandemic changed our day-to-day lives. We’ve received permission from Government with regard to the number of people allowed to attend but we still knew we had to produce an event that would be safe. By doing a drive-through, the public remain in the comfort of their car and can enjoy the full experience in a safe and socially distanced way.”
The City reminds the public that entry to the event is only in a vehicle. Pedestrians and bikes will not be granted entry. Those without access to a vehicle are encouraged to rent an electric car like a Twizy, Tazzari, Bermi or Rugged Rental for the evening and make a night of it.
City officials and security will be on site to ensure that all safety guidelines are adhered to. Portable bathrooms will be available and attendees must wear a mask when accessing them as well as upon initial entry into the event and when interacting with event staff.
