Michael Sims failed in his attempt to make his second-successive Nationwide Tour cut yesterday after recording a four-over par round of 76 at the $450,000 Henrico County Open in Richmond, Virginia.

Sims began his round on the back nine and despite eagle on the par-four 15th, he followed this up only three holes later with a disastrous quadruple bogey on the par-five 18th — yet another mid-round blow-up which forced him to make the turn at three-over for the round.

His inconsistency continued after that, however, as two straight birdies on the first and second holes were cancelled out by bogeys on the sixth and eighth to leave him at plus-four — some five shots off the projected cut.
