Bray's gold

Bermuda's number one Andy Bray secured a gold medal in men's doubles but missed out on his quest for first place finish in the individual championships.

Bray was narrowly defeated by Eduardo Torres from the Cayman Islands in three sets losing the first 6-3, before coming back to win the second set 6-4. Torres then won the third set tiebreaker 10-7.

Bermuda continued to claim a raft of medals as the curtain came down on another Island Games with Jennifer Alen, Melissa Clarke, Jarita Dill and Shianne Smith picking up a bronze medal in the women's 4X400 metre relay.

Shianne Smith also finished the women's long jump, recording her best jump at 5.57 metres, while Dawn Richardson finished the women's 10,000 metres race in fifth place. The Bermuda women's basketball team also won a bronze, after they defeated Guernsey 59 — 53. Jenaya Wade-Fray scored 26 points, while Erica Woods chipped in with 11.But the Bermuda women's volleyball team went down 3 — 0 to Menorca in the bronze medal game. The match took 71 minutes in total with Menorca winning the first set 25-15 in 22 minutes, then the second set took 26 minutes as Menorca won 25 — 21. The third set Menorca won 25-23 in 23 minutes.Greenland defeated the men's volleyball team 3 — 2 with Bermuda winning the first game 25-21 in 20 minutes. They went ahead 2-0 with a 25-19 win in the second game, but Greenland won the next three games 25-20, 25-19, and then 15-8. Bermuda finished in sixth place.

The Island finished in 9th position in the overall table with eight golds, thirteen silver and nineteen bronze medals.

It proved to be a productive day in the tennis with
