Anderson banned by BCBC
Temperamental St. George's batsman Jason Anderson (pictured) has been slapped with a one-year suspension by Bermuda Cricket Board of Control.
Anderson came under the hammer for actions that threatened to bring the game into disrepute during a Premier League match at Sea Breeze Oval between his club, St. George's, and Bailey's Bay.
He was reported by the umpires following a verbal tirade that saw Anderson, in his role as wicketkeeper, vent his frustration at team-mate Kameron Fox.
That outburst was the latest in a line of incidents involving Anderson, who more recently came under scrutiny following unsportsmanlike behaviour during this year's Cup Match at Wellington Oval where, as a colt, he first made an unconventional exit from the field after being dismissed in the first innings, and followed this with a temper tantrum in the dressing room where he allegedly damaged some property.
Anderson will likely not get the opportunity to play in the classic next year as his ban runs through September.
"It was a disciplinary case that was dealt with by the committee and the results as they stand are that Mr. Anderson is suspended from cricket until September of next year," confirmed Reginald Pearman, BCBC vice-president and chairman of the disciplinary committee.
Bermuda Cricket Board of Control have rescheduled the Premier League matches that were postponed on Sunday for this Saturday, September 15.
