Bascome urges kids to play ball
Major Indoor Soccer League professional player David Bascome has strongly urged the Island?s youngsters to register for this year?s Bank of Bermuda Pro Soccer Clinic and College Prospect Programme.
According to the Baltimore Blast player, in excess of 200 enthusiastic kids have already signed up, but space is still available for anyone else interested in taking part in the annual event which runs from June 27 to July 3 at the National Sports Centre.
There will be a registration at the Bank of Bermuda Head Office branch today from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
?I encourage all of Bermuda?s young players, both male and female to take advantage of the opportunities that the clinic and college prospect programme have to offer,? said Bascome.
?In addition to the very best local coaches, we have international coaches and college scouts who will be involved in the programmes, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge of the game and high international coaching standards.?
Here to assist Bascome will be professional and college scouts Lester Felician, Paul Kitson and Mike Williams.
Bank of Bermuda CEO Philip Butterfield said at a press conference yesterday: ?The Bank of Bermuda is pleased to support the continued growth and development of our young people and encourage all of our young soccer players to get involved in this annual event.
?These programmes provide the opportunity for our young people to develop their game and personal skills, in a positive, structured environment which will help them become better players on the field, and better people in our community.?
The developmental pro soccer clinic will accommodate up to 305 places for children between the ages of four and 14 while the college prospect programme can accommodate 100 participants and is available to those between the ages of 15 and 20. The latter programme will run from July 4 to July 9.
