Battle resumes for BFA post

Bermuda Football Association executives Cal Blankendal and Lee Holder will resume their battle for Chris Furbert?s vacant first vice-president?s position when the association?s adjourned AGM reconvenes at Social Club tonight.

Furbert resigned after serving four years on the BFA executive and last month?s initial AGM was adjourned with Blankendal and Holder deadlocked at seven votes apiece.

Blankendal has served as the association?s youth committee chairman since 2004, and stood down as president of Western Stars earlier this year ? but was elected to the position as vice-president.

?If affiliates consider me based on my proven track record, both at club and association levels, then I rate my chances as good as any,? Blankendal told on the eve of tonight?s elections.

Holder is currently vice president of Devonshire Colts and chairman of the BFA?s safety and security committee and also serves as prosecutor during association disciplinary proceedings.

?There?s no question as to my dedication to the sport by anyone who has been observant,? Holder said.

?My experiences have prepared me to take on a leadership role. And I am convinced of my ability to effectively serve the Bermuda football family.?

Both executives were nominated and seconded from the floor after Furbert stood down during last month?s meeting which saw seven affiliates fail to attend.
