BFA to lodge cup appeal?

Bermuda Football Association president Larry Mussenden was remaining tight-lipped last night over reports that Bermuda could lodge an appeal with regional governing body CONCACAF following last week?s Caribbean Digicel Cup defeat by British Virgin Islands.

Bermuda went down 2-0 to the BVI and thus were eliminated, having gone into the match on top of the four-country group.

However, it?s understood the BFA have been investigating the possibility that BVI played at least one ineligible player from St. Vincent.

If that was the case Bermuda could be reinstated to the tournament and BVI booted out.

But any action taken by the BFA would have to be done quickly as the first match of the two-leg second round tie between BVI and Grenada is scheduled this Sunday.

Mussenden refused to comment on the matter when contacted last night.

St.Vincent, who advanced to the second round along with BVI, were also known to be unhappy about some the players fielded by their Caribbean neighbours when those teams drew 1-1 on the tournament?s opening day.
