Glenn Blakeney struck his second century of the young season at Lord's yesterday to lead champions St. David's to a 157-run victory over visiting Somerset CC.

For the talented left-hander it was another fierce batting display as he finished with five sixes and 16 fours while batting for 131 minutes.

Blakeney and skipper Sammy Robinson, who opened the innings, put on 204 for the second wicket after the other opener Phillip Pitcher had been dismissed for 18. Robinson scored 55.

Also among the runs were Shannon Raynor with 27, Delyone Borden (21) and Del Hollis (19 not out).

Leon Place was the best bowler for Somerset with two for 48 off nine overs with a maiden while David Gibbs had two for 50 off six overs.

After Blakeney had destroyed Somerset's bowling attack, Hollis attempted to challenge him for match honours with a spirited spell of bowling, finishing with attractive figures of six wickets for 19 runs off 9.5 overs, including a maiden.

Somerset were comfortably placed on 70 for two in reply but once Hollis took the ball their hopes quickly vanished.

Shannon Warner was Somerset's top scorer with 40 while opener Sheridan Ming followed with 27, Reid Jones with 25 and Shaun Roberts (13).

Bailey's Bay 272-8,

Cleveland 264-8

Skipper Carlton Smith struck a spirited century but the big opener's gallant effort fell just short of preventing Bay from winning this game at Sea Breeze Oval.

When the overs ran out, Cleveland were only eight runs shy of the target.

Smith, leading Cleveland's charge from start to the very end, was anything but discouraged after Bay posted a healthy 272 total.

Smith and opening partner Aaron Adams put on 72 for the first wicket with the latter hitting 49, but afterwards too many of his team-mates failed to make significant contributions.

Fine knocks form Earl Richardson (29) and Peter Philpott (26) kept their hopes alive as they joined their skipper in solid partnerships, but the five who were to follow when Richardson and Philpott were dismissed only made token contributions.

Smith, who was not out on 107 at the end, reached his century off the second last ball of the game, striking spinner Irving Romaine for six. He finished with five sixes and 11 fours. Skipper Corey Hill was the top bowler for Bay with four wickets for 36 runs off 10 overs.

Romaine earlier led Bay in batting with an aggressive 67, hitting six sixes and four fours. Jermaine Outerbridge scored 40, Burton Outerbridge 28 not out, Damon Edwards 25, Hill 24 and Rodney Trott 21 not out.

Gregory Talbot was Cleveland's top bowler with three wickets for 52 off eight overs while Charles Richardson had two for 28 off nine overs and Merkell Smith two for 55 off five overs.
