Bolton returned as BBA chief
The executive committee of Bermuda Bicycle Association was re-elected for another year on Monday night night at the Annual General Meeting held at BAA.
The vote of confidence gives president Martin Bolton and his committee an opportunity to continue the initiatives they have embarked on in what will be Bolton's third term at the helm.
Only one member of the committee was replaced as road captain Jason Krupp did not seek re-election after serving on the committee for a number of years. He was replaced by national squad riders Steve Millington and Melanie Claude who will share the responsibilities.
Returning officers are Graham Smith as vice president, Danielle Bezant as secretary, treasurer Richard Mason and time trial coordinator Jennifer Hedges. Greg Hopkins will remain national coach.
During his year-end report, Bolton told members that the sport had enjoyed its most successful season, particularly on the international scene with a fourth place finish at the B World Championships in China in June and a gold medal at the Caribbean Championships in Aruba last month by Kris Hedges as the major highlights.
He also congratulated all the riders who had represented the Island so well overseas during the 2001 season.
The president, however, accepted that some things could have been handled differently with better results, and while not dwelling on any specific matters promised members that the committee would continue to serve the Association to the best of their ability in the upcoming season. He emphasised that the development of the sport at the grass roots level would continue with clinics for the junior riders and novices, and an effort would be made to involve more women in the sport as a priority.
