Sean Bouchard took final honours at the 2002 Bermuda National Optimist Championships.

In the final two races of ten held in 15-20 knots yesterday, the 70lb Mount Saint Agnes sailor revelled in the conditions to record third and fifth place finishes.

Jesse Kirkland knocked off a first and a second to finish five points behind Bouchard. Lightweight Elijah Simmons, in second at the start of the day, also found conditions favourable downwind but could not hold on upwind and dropped behind Kirkland.

Oliver Riihilouma was fourth after notching a second and first. In both races he sailed world class first beats and rounded the leeward mark first. Kirkland grounded him down in the first race, but he prevailed in the second.

Cam Pimentel showed great consistency in light and heavier air to seal fifth overall. Will Hutchings came sixth.
