CableVision explains UK Premiership blackouts
TV company Bermuda CableVision today issued a clarification for viewers on the issue of occasional blackouts over English Premiership football matches.
Rollin Nathan, sales manager for Bermuda CableVision, said: "Currently, CableVision has two channels that offer coverage of these matches: Fox Soccer Channel on Channel 53 and SportsMax on Channel 350.
"Fox Soccer Channel does not hold the rights to all matches and is therefore subject to certain blackouts, while SportsMax offers full coverage of all English Premiership Football League matches, as they are the rights holders for Bermuda.
"During matches to which they do not own the rights, Fox Soccer Channel is required to black out the broadcast and automatically switches their programming to the Speed Channel, a sister service.
"We at CableVision have no control over this process, which is controlled by Fox Soccer Channel from their transmission site in the US.
"As the rights holder for Bermuda, SportsMaxis able to broadcast complete coverage of the English Premiership Football League matches. This channel is, therefore, an option for football fans who do not want to miss a match.
"We hope this serves to clarify these rights issues for our customers, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the blackouts.
"Viewers who wish to express their opinion directly to Fox on this on matter may do so by visiting http://msn.foxsports.com/feedback. We thank viewers for their understanding."
