Christopher aims to be fine and Dandy for final

After suffering a knock during last Tuesday night's Friendship Trophy semi-final against PHC, Dandy Town stalwart Lloyd Christopher is fighting to get fit in time for next month's FA Cup final against cross-town rivals North Village.

A veteran of 18 seasons with Town, Christopher originally planned to retire from the sport after April's final at the National Sports Centre, where the former Bermuda international hopes to finally win a Cup medal - something that has eluded him in three past finals.

"All that I can remember is pushing the ball forward and getting struck from the right side," he said of Tuesday's incident.

"I just felt an excruciating pain on my right ankle as I remained lying on the sideline. My first thought was that I had broken my ankle.

"All I kept thinking to myself was 'no, I am not going to go out of the game like this'."

Christopher said he was frustrated at not being able to help his team-mates slug it out against PHC, who eventually advanced to the Friendship final via a penalty shoot-out. The Zebras will meet North Village on April 7.

Asked whether he thought he would be ready in time for the FA final, Christopher said: "Right now it is still a bit early to tell, but I hope so.

"I am presently walking with the assistance of a cane but I have three weeks in which to recover and hopefully I should be back in time for the final.

"No matter what though, I will still be a part of the team."
