Colts eradicate Pest Control
Ryan Purnell bagged four-goals and national team striker Aljame Zuill added a brace as First Division Devonshire Colts cruised through the next round of the FA Cup with this lopsided win at Police Field.
After Zuill had opened the scoring after only nine minutes, Purnell pounced in the 25th, 34th and 44th minutes to complete a superb first-half treble before adding a fourth in the first minute after the break.
Zuill then netted his second and Colts? sixth as the home team continued to punish a porous Pest Control defence. Second-half substitute Jay Astwood added Colts? seventh in the 78th minute.
Prospect hammered ten-man BAA to advance in the FA Cup at Police Field. Jerry Laws scored in the 29th minute to send Prospect into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead at the half.
But that lead would be soon stretched to three when play resumed as Clifford Roberts and Anthony Bartley converted.
BAA?s afternoon then turned from bad to worse as Sean Hill was red carded for hurling abusive language at referee Jenny Villamarin and Roberts grabbed his second goal of the match and his team?s fourth.
Steve Black pulled one back for BAA with a clinically taken spot-kick after Prospect were penalised for an infringement in the box.
Yet before the dust had settled Najee Woods added his name onto the score sheet and restored his team?s four-goal cushion.
Lamuel Weeks scored a hat trick to inspire Ireland Rangers to a convincing win over Robin Hood at Malabar. Jermaine Saltus and prolific goal-scorer Jonathan Bean notched Rangers? others as Hood ? the only Commercial outfit to reach the FA Cup semi-finals ? were sent crashing out of this year?s tournament at the very first hurdle.
Youth prevailed over experience at Wellington Oval as First Division St. George?s Colts saved the best for last before disposing of Commercial rivals St. George?s All Stars in a highly entertaining East End derby.
Just when it appeared extra time would be needed to separate these two sides, Under-20 national team footballer Chae Foggo gave St. George?s the lead for good ten minutes from the end of regulation time.
Kumar Smith then added a brace to put the match well beyond the reach of a gutsy All Stars.
Valley stormed into the first round of the FA Cup after completely annihilating Vasco at Wellington Oval. Jonathan Eve led the rout with a superbly taken hat trick while James Tyrell and Kevin Isaac added two apiece. Fitzie Williams and Andre Philpott netted one goal apiece to apply the icing to Valley?s comprehensive win.
