Corey Hill has made a sensational return to the Somerset Cup Match line-up, but the lively fast bowler insists that his calling is for more than just the club, but the sport itself.

Dismayed by the fact that cricket has been in something of a decline over the course of the last decade, with attendance dwindling and younger players being pried away by fringe sports and other activities, Hill wants to do his part to reverse the trend.

Hill, who will be counted on to open the bowling for the West Enders, said: "Going down to St. George's cricket ground I want everyone to feel happy no matter what the result.

"But it's not about Corey Hill or who's playing here or who's playing there, it's about getting the game back . . . getting the game back to where the thousands watching are happier than me before they leave the grounds.

"That's what's important."

Certainly few would deny Hill's enthusiasm for the game, as he always seems to find himself in the middle of the action . . . for better or worse.

No stranger to controversy as a young upstart, he appears to have matured, particularly since having taken over the reins as captain of Bailey's Bay, and now being returned to the Somerset side following a three-year hiatus.

"I bring a little bit of energy," he said "Somebody's got to bring the energy, so I feel it to be my responsibility."
