Confusion over NSC name change
It's not even finished and people can't agree on its name.
Sports Minister Dale Butler says it's still the National Sports Centre (NSC) but earlier this week NSC Trustee Chairman Dr.Gerard Bean announced the Frog Lane complex should henceforth be known as the "National Centre".
"We changed the name after a period of time because, when we have the total concept finished, the stadium will be for the whole community of Bermuda, not just for sports. Hence the name change.
"By the time the project is complete, I would say 75 percent of the usage will be based around community activities, while only 25 percent will be sports-related," Dr. Bean said in a story on the website mbermuda.com.
However, when asked about the facility's proper title, Butler said he knew of no change and that it should continue to be known as the National Sports Centre.
"As far as I ? the minister ? know it's the National Sports Centre. I have not been told otherwise."
He hinted a change could be made in the future after the premises were completed.
