Couper family clean up at Canada races

A family trip to Canada proved a wonderful chance for the Couper family to flex their collective running muscle.

Heading out to St. Johns, New Brunswick for Grandma Couper?s 90th birthday, the family also decided to take part in the Festival by the Sea road running meet.

The event ? held for the past ten years ? features a marathon, half-marathon and a five-miler.

With husband Colin and nonagenarian mother in the crowd, Peggy won her age group in the half-marathon in a ?very pleasing? one hour, 42 minutes and 11 seconds.

Not to be outdone, children Ashley ? a perennial winner of the Front Street Mile ? grabbed victory in the ladies? five mile race with a time of 32.02 while sister Julia, 34, finished in 38 minutes to put her well up the rankings.

And to top it off, Ashley?s boyfriend Chris Estvanik ? who featured in the final of the US Olympic trials in the 1500 metres ? shattered the five-mile record by finishing in a time of 26 minutes and 15 seconds.
