Goodwill Week is fast becoming a Hole-in-One Festival.

Hot on the heels of Sunday?s ace by Rhode Island pro Kyle Phelps in the opening round of the week-long annual Goodwill Championships came two more yesterday.

And astonishingly they arrived within minutes of each other on the same hole.

First Tom Dolan, playing for the Diamondback Country Club out of Florida, saw his tee shot disappear into the cup at Belmont Hill?s tricky par-three fourth and then Basil Gray of Sugar Mills CC, also from Florida and playing right behind Diamondback, watched as his short iron off the tee hit the bulls-eye.

Phelps made his ace on Sunday at Port Royal?s difficult par-three 16th.

Meanwhile, in the battle of team net honours, Winnipeg?s St. Charles Country Club moved into a share for first place as they fired a 14-under-par 57 at Mid Ocean Club to add to their first-day 57 at Belmont Hills. Cory Kartusch is the St. Charles professional in a team also made up of amateurs Oliver Plett, Charlie Spring and Dominic Dirisio.

Overnight leaders Crestwood CC, led by Rob Baxter with amateurs Steve Sampson, Adrian Jones and Richard Ruggiero, remained on top after they added a 61 at Port Royal to their first-day 53 at Tucker?s Point.

In the gross division, regular return visitor Bob Duval, father of former world number one David Duval, helped fire the Country Club of Orange Park into the overall lead with an impressive nine-under-par 61 at Tucker?s Point, taking their two-day total to 15-under- par 126.

Duval, with amateurs Colin Armstrong, Lynn Stoner and Scott Regner, now lead by one stroke over The National GC ?B? team out of Ontario, Canada who also played at Tucker?s Point yesterday and posted a five-under 65.

Pro Keir Smith and amateurs Don Pasitano, Frank Fini and Bill Chamlick make up the National quartet.

Belmont Hills ?A?, with Michael Sims at the helm, continue to be the strongest of the local teams as they remained two shots back at 13-under-par after carding 66 at Mid Ocean Club.

Among the senior teams, Delroy Cambridge?s North Shore GC, which includes Eddie Marshall, Don Airey and Michael De La Hunty, took over at the top of the gross division with a seven-under 63 at Belmont Hills. They moved to a two-day total of 13-under 127.

And in the senior net division, Bear Hill CC off Massachusetts, the overnight leaders, extended their advantage by three with a 62 at Port Royal for a 27-under total of 114.

Timberlake Pont Club of Florida fired an impressive 59 at Belmont Hills to take their two-day total to 116 and 24-under.

In the junior professional tournament, in which the pros are playing a separate stableford event, Keir Smith of The National GC ?B? team, remained on top, adding 18 points at Tucker?s Point to the 22 he accumulated on day one.

But Sims and Rich Parker of Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire, both moved within one point of that lead.

Cambridge extended his lead in the seniors division, shooting a superb 64 on his own ball at Belmont Hills to grab another 24 points and take his total to 46. Donny Jarvis of Nassau CC out of New York is 11 back on 35 points.
