Edness third in International
Sergio Edness led Bermuda?s charge on the final day of the International Junior Golf Championship at Mid Ocean Club on Saturday when he fired a final round of 75 to take third place in the boys? 16-18 division.
Edness finished with a three-round total of 236 ? seven shots behind eventual winner Ashish Patel of Schaumberg, Illinois.
The overnight leader, Patel recorded a superb final round of even par 71 to win by four shots from another visitor, David Marino, who finished with a round of 74 for a 233 total.
Two Bermudians, Daniel Augustus (244) and Mark Phillips (224) tied for ninth place, thus earning a spot in the American National Junior Championships at the PGA West course in May. The top ten finishers on Saturday all qualified for that event.
Phillips, who finished with a round of 76, won the junior boys? division for the third successive year.
Bermuda?s Blair Marshall, who had been just three shots off the lead after Friday?s second round, finished with a round of 84 to drop out of the top ten and place 11th.
The girls? open division was won by visitor Katie Napleton on 258 with Bermuda?s Tariquah Walikraam second on 260 and American Vanessa Hanba third on 276.
Walikraam finished with her best round of the week, an 81.
