The Island's tennis players will have a final chance to boost their 2002 rankings come September 5.

That's when the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association's (BLTA) Grand Prix event begins at the Whaler Inn courts at the Southampton Princess. The deadline for entering the season-ending tournament is September 3 at 7 p.m. Entry forms can be collected from tennis clubs islandwide but must be returned either to Whaler Inn or to the Tennis Stadium.

This tournament is the only one in which there is a category for advanced beginners ("C" Division) and the BLTA hopes this will give more players incentive to enter. There are also some enticing prizes on offer by sponsors, the Southampton Princess.

Winners in the "A" and "B" Divisions will receive three and two nights' stay respectively at the hotel while those in the "C" Division will be rewarded with one night. The tournament concludes on September 15.
