Final Social event of the season
What began as a friendly clubhouse feud has now developed into an all-out battle for bragging rights.
And on Saturday, Social Club?s past will clash with the present as their former cricketers rub shoulders with their younger counterparts at Police Field in a contest that will ultimately put an end to a two-year friendly argument involving former Bluebirds Fred (Pinks) Lewis and Nolan Walker and fast bowler Kevin Hurdle.
?Basically this is like Evander Holyfield going up against Mike Tyson,? Social Club player/coach Charlie Marshall smiled.
?This game has been talked about for a long time and now it?s finally on. Lewis and Walker are looking forward to hooking Hurdle outside of the park while Hurdle said he can?t wait to bowl a few bumpers their way.?
Marshall has been included in the Old Boys line up, also containing the likes of Earl (Gabby) Hart, club administrator Dennis Hart, Winston (Coe) Trott along with former Western Stars duo Andre (Doc) Manders and Leroy (Curly Joe) Wilson.
Jahmiko Marshall will lead Social Club?s current batch of Premier Division players during Saturday?s 40 over contest which starts at noon.
When asked to give a prediction, Marshall confidently replied: ?The old boys are going to win. Basically we are going to show the younger fellows how the game should be played.?
