First Bacardi 8K race
The Bacardi 8K — a new race and a new distance on Bermuda's road running calendar — will be held for the first time on Sunday.
Organised by the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club (MAAC) the race features entrants 18 years or older.
The 8K (approximately five miles) race begins at the Bacardi Ltd. World Headquarters building at 8.30 a.m., turns onto Pitt's Bay Road towards Spanish Point, and ends back at Bacardi.
A festive inaugural event celebration complete with a complimentary light breakfast will take place after the finish, featuring several draw prizes, as well as prizes to the top male and female finishers in several categories.
A massage therapist will also be on hand to provide free massages to participants as they finish the course.
All participants will receive a memento gift bag in appreciation of being a part of this inaugural event.
Although the deadline for entries passed yesterday, late registration is offered at the race number pick-up location at the Bacardi building on Pitts bay Road tomorrow from noon until 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Late entries will also be accepted on race day.
Registration may be made online at www.maac.bm.
