Ireland Rangers 1 Somerset 4

Violence marred this First Division derby between promotion bound Somerset Trojans and neighbours Ireland Rangers at Malabar yesterday, with four players receiving red cards.

Trojans, who with the victory secured their place in the top flight next season, were leading 2-1 with nine minutes remaining when Rangers 'keeper Leslie Trew and Somerset's Dwia Blyden collided heavily as they challenged for a loose ball.

Trew took a boot to the chest during the tackle and retaliated by head-butting Blyden. Tempers then flared resulting in players from both teams exchanging blows.

When order was finally restored, Rangers' Jonathan Bean, Trew and Jermaine Saltus and Somerset's Damon Swan all received their marching orders.

Trojans had earlier gone ahead with a Damon Ming strike in the fourth minute only for Rangers to draw level two minutes later when Clifton Anderson converted from the penalty spot. Shannon Morrisey then restored Trojans' lead six minutes before the break.

Additional strikes from Blyden and Ming extended the match well beyond Rangers during the latter stages as Trojans bounced back from last Thursday's first loss of the season to PHC.

St. David's 1 PHC 4

PHC continued their push for promotion with victory at St. David's as a late penalty miss denied Blenn Bean a hat-trick.

All of the goals came in the first half with PHC getting off to a good start with goals in the ninth and 14th minutes by Dawud Tucker and Bean. Kevin Lambe made it 3-0 in the 20th minute before Bean scored his second goal of the match in the 35th.

St. David's pulled a goal back five minutes before the break when teenager Fiqre Crockwell found the net. And although the Islanders created good scoring chances in the second half, including two efforts from Otis Minors which hit the bar and brought off a good save by 'keeper Dennis Joell, the home team could not reduce the deficit further. Bean missed a penalty late in the game when George O'Brien Jr. saved his spot-kick.

St.George's 1 Prospect 0

A Brent Minors second-half goal secured maximum points for St.George's at Wellington Oval yesterday.

During a largely uneventful match played in muddy conditions, Minors was gifted a goal when a through ball went between the legs of the Prospect 'keeper, leaving the player the easy of task of slotting into an empty net.

Paget 5 Wolves 1

Wolves paid the penalty for starting this game with just eight men at White Hill Field, giving away most of the goals before they were able to field a full team.

In a game that saw all of the goals come in the first half, Paget struck early with David Hunt getting their first after just six minutes.

David Trott pulled one back for Wolves four minutes later but then Paget over ran over their opponents with four more goals before the break.

Kyle Jones put them ahead 2-1 after 16 minutes and Keroy Butterfield, Daniel Caines and Thomas Brown each scored within a 15-minute span.
