Grim faced Colts fans left White Hill Field in despair yesterday after their team, already anchored at the bottom of the Premier Division, suffered a third straight league loss and sixth defeat of the young season.

But there were smiles on the faces of the Town faithful as the win put the St. John's Road club on top of the table, replacing previous leaders Devonshire Cougars who drew with Hamilton Parish.

Colts were floored by goals by Seyoum Tuzo, Jarred Peniston, Carlos Smith and Khano Smith.

And while their misery continues, nothing should be taken away from a Town team who were on top of their game throughout, outplaying Colts in all areas.

Up front the Hornets were as menacing as ever. Led by Carlos Smith and big Khano Smith they took the initiative midway through the first half and never allowed Colts to establish any sort of momentum.

Had it not been for skipper Shannon Burgess and McKonnen Hollis in the middle of the Colts defence, Town might have come away with an even more emphatic victory.

They took 25 minutes to break a dull opening spell, Khano Smith forcing goalkeeper Gregory Rose to palm away his fierce 18-yard shot. But two minutes later the inevitable opener came Town's way.

Hard-working defender Maurice Lowe raced down the left flank and crossed, the ball barely escaping the boot of Carlos Smith who was moving in for the kill. But Colts were unable to make a clearance and Tuzo gained position 16 yards out to power his shot into goal.

With that deserved lead, Town stormed forward at will, finding it easier to advance with Hollis receiving attention on the sideline and the Colts defence in disarray.

Goal number two came two minutes before the interval, this time Tuzo creating the opening for Peniston to drill a shot home from 16 yards on the left.

After being torn apart, Colts likely started the second half in fear of what was to come, especially with Hollis still limping.

They moved Aljame Zuill out of midfield into attack in what appeared to be a positive move but it was Town who went further ahead after 48 minutes.

The industrious Khano Smith dribbled through the defence and crossed for Carlos Smith to tap home with the greatest of ease.

Colts' first shot on goal of any significance came two minutes later when Damon Francis sent a crisp 18-yarder at goalkeeper Jason Smith, but before Colts could gain any further momentum Town struck again.

After 55 minutes Khano Smith netted the goal of the match. Gaining possession down the left flank he sent a wicked angled drive into the net, giving Rose no chance at all.

Colts should have reduced the arrears after 66 minutes when skipper Burgess sent in a lob that caught the defence flat footed, but Zuill's header from close range was sensationally tipped over by Smith.
