Goals galore and top of the league
It's early in the season yet, but City are where we want to be - top of the league.
That will send out early warnings to other clubs, but there are no awards for being top in August and our aim is to stay there.
It's been a great few days for me, scoring twice in our 5-2 win against Crewe on Saturday and then a hat-trick in our 4-2 win at Burnley on Monday.
Burnley has been a good club for me to play against, I always seem to get a goal or two against them.
The first was a glancing header from a great cross by Richard Edgehill and the third was set up by Paulo Wanchope, who rolled the ball to me in the middle and I rounded the 'keeper and side-footed in. But I honestly can't remember a thing about the second goal!
I was actually disappointed I didn't get at least a couple more. I hit a volley against the inside of the post and I had a one-on-one with the 'keeper as well.
We knew it would be a hard game against Burnley. They had been undefeated in their first three games and were top of the league. But we were determined to get our away form off the mark with a good performance and that's what we did.
The Crewe match at Maine Road was very different. It was 2-2 at half-time and in the second half, Crewe were having the better of the game. Any neutral watching would have thought there could only be one winner and that wouldn't have been us. Crewe were dominating the possession.
With time running out, the gaffer made an excellent substitution, bringing on Tony Grant, Kevin Horlock and Darren Huckerby. Those three changed the game. Huckerby had the legs to run across two or three players and create space for others. We ended up winning, but it was never a 5-2 game.
I was pleased for Darren. His performance showed how badly he wants to get involved. And knowing he's there on the bench makes me realise that I've got to keep scoring goals and trying to improve my performance to keep my place in the team.
Six goals in four games has been a great start for me, but I'm not getting carried away. At this early stage of the season, I know that players are not as fit and the concentration level not so high as later on. As a result, you can get a few goals at this stage that you might not get later in the season. It gets harder as the season goes on to keep scoring.
Of course, my scoring ratio is pretty good at the moment, but the minute you think you're going to carry on scoring at that rate, that's when things can go wrong.
I'm realistic and I know that players in this division know me and they will be out to stop me scoring whatever way they can.
Things look very promising right now. When I scored 29 goals the season we won promotion to the Premier League, I only scored one from a ball through the middle.
In four games so far this season, I've already scored two from balls through the middle. That's a good sign.
Another good sign is the number of chances we are creating as a team. Against Burnley, I had six chances, but I suppose that made up for the Norwich game when I didn't get a single chance.
I think we will make more scoring opportunities under Kevin Keegan than we were doing under Joe Royle's management. Keegan is much more attack-minded and there is an element of, 'if they score two and we score three, I'm happy' in his philosophy. With Royle, it was more like, 'we only need to score one if they don't get any'.
For the forwards, it's so pleasing to be in a team that's going to create a lot of opportunities. Then you know all you have to do is get yourself in the right place to get on the end of them and then it's all down to your ability to finish.
The fans are enjoying it, but they really don't know what to expect from us from match to match. They went to Norwich where not one player performed to his capability. Then against Crewe, we won without playing at our best. Against Burnley, we did play to our capabilities.
I really feel that we have a great chance to be up there with the top teams at the end of the season.
