Shaun Goater and Manchester City are back in the big time!

City won promotion to the Premiership last night without kicking a ball when nearest rivals Wolves lost 1-0 to Millwall.

So it will be celebration time today when Kevin Keegan's men take on relegation-threatened Barnsley at Maine Road.

However, it will be a bittersweet moment for Goater as he is forced to sit out the game following his one game ban for being sent off at Stockport.

With promotion secured, City will now be gunning for the Championship against the Tykes.

Three points against the Yorkshire side will give them that honour, although one point would effectively be enough due to City's far superior goal difference.

A delighted Keegan said last night: "We've certainly proved to be one of the two best teams in this division, and our fans have matched us.

"Promotion and the First Division title will be their reward, and I'm delighted for them."
