Goater back in training
Shaun Goater is aiming for a Boxing Day return to action following his injury lay-off.
The Reading striker had a knee operation and has been out of contention for the past month.
Boss Steve Coppell saw his side slump to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace at the weekend and will be pleased to hear that both Goater and team-mate Darius Henderson are expected to be ready for Friday?s visit of Wimbledon, especially as he only has Nicky Forster available up front.
Reading physio, Jon Fearn, said: ?Shaun Goater and Darius Henderson should both be in full training (this) week. Their injuries have settled down well. We?ll be increasing the intensity of their work towards the end of this week and hopefully by Boxing Day they?ll both be available for the first team.?
After Saturday?s loss, boss Coppell said he may be forced to ring the changes.
The Royals now lie ninth in the First Division but are still just one point off the play-off zone.
Coppell said: ?I have great faith in the lads we have here but I do need the opportunity to try something a little different.?
