Goater hopes for a repeat
Shaun Goater will be hoping for a repeat of the scoreline the last time Manchester City took on Fulham when the teams lock horns today.
For the Bermudian striker hit a hat-trick against the Londoners during a 4-0 win in Division One in January 2000.
Goater, who has five goals to his credit in the league so far this term, is under pressure from former strike partner Darren Huckerby after failing to find the net in the last two matches - the 3-2 loss to Spurs and Thursday's 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
He did, however, set up Marc-Vivien Foe for one of the Cameroon international's two goals and saw a smart shot excellently saved by Villa 'keeper Peter Enckleman.
But the rumours around Manchester are that boss Kevin Keegan may give Huckerby a run out in the very near future after his fine form for the reserves. Nicolas Anelka, Keegan's ?13-million investment, is unlikely to be dropped and so if the manager opts for change then it is Goater who could find himself on the bench.
The best way to prevent that, obviously, is to get his name on the scoresheet and with Fulham having not won for four games the match at Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road ground might be the place to do it.
Meanwhile, Kyle Lightbourne and Macclesfield will be looking to put the disappointing Boxing Day loss to Lincoln behind them and register a win at Exeter City in their Third Division clash.
