Good, but not good enough for Hedges
Kris Hedges rode well but was unable to hang on to the first title he won in his professional career last weekend.
Hedges grabbed glory at the All American Road Race in Clarksburg, Maryland last year - his first since joining the Snow Valley team.
But although he was one of the 18 finishers from 52 starters last Saturday he had to settle for a group finish.
"It went decently well," said the US-based rider. "Although it was quite frustrating having no other elite teamates with me due to the District Road Race clashing with the Elite Criterium National Championships in Chicago.
"Ultimately I finished eighth, not quite the win of a year ago but I was in the mix of things all day on a demanding course that saw 800 feet of climbing per seven mile lap.
"In the end the race was won on team tactics although I, along with three other breakaway companions, were closing in fast on the earlier break in the closing stages of the race."
This weekend Hedges and his teammates have the district individual and team time trials.
