Gordon to head WICB

The man chosen to guide the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) through the landmark 2007 Cricket World Cup comes with a wealth of experience and connections which the regional body could well use.

New WICB president Ken Gordon has had a long and distinguished career in business during which he has been chairman of major Caribbean conglomerate, Neal and Massy Holdings.

The Trinidadian's primary business interest has been in the media as managing director of the Trinidad Express and chief executive officer and chairman of Caribbean Communications Network (CCN). The 75-year-old has also been instrumental in establishing a number of regional media houses in Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados.

Gordon also served as government minister and senator in his homeland. He was elevated to West Indies cricket's highest post unopposed last weekend at the WICB's annual general meeting in St. Maarten and succeeds Barbadian Teddy Griffith who did not seek re-election after one term as president.
