Bermuda's ice skating twins Melyssa and Vanessa James achieved more success at the weekend.

The duo, whose long term goal is to represent the Island at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, were competing at Wilmington in Delaware.

Coach Holly Eisenhour said: "Melyssa placed fifth in the short programme and second in the long programme in the Intermediate Ladies.

"She skated two clean programmes and the judges said she was long, lean and lovely."

Vanessa, meanwhile, did even better, placing fourth in the short programme but grabbing first in the long programme and taking the overall trophy in the Intermediate Ladies.

"Vanessa landed two double axles and a triple salchow in the long programme and was technically perfect on that day," said Eisenhour.

The girls, who both now live in the USA, are skating between four and six hours a day and are spending a further one to two hours carrying out off-ice training.

"They are very dedicated skaters who enjoy their sport," said Eisenhour. "I see improvement in them every day."
