Boulevard are now seeing green, gold and red!

After the Premier Division club learned late last Friday they would have to sit idle until December 1 as a direct result of the Island?s involvement in this week?s Digicel Cup tournament in St.Vincent, Blazers team official Amon Brown yesterday lashed out over Bermuda Football Association?s (BFA) last-minute directive which allowed clubs with three or more players elevated to the national team an option to postpone matches.

The ruling has brought Boulevard?s season to an abrupt halt. The Blazers last took to the pitch for a FA Cup first round clash against Somerset Eagles on November 14 and face almost another two weeks without seeing action.

?It?s garbage,? fumed Brown. ?Boulevard once had a lot of players involved in the national team but we still played. If the BFA would have said something earlier then we might have been able to play the matches before the national squad left the Island.

?Our guys want to play football but now the interest level might go down a bit because the players know they won?t be playing any football anytime soon.?

Brown also claimed Somerset Trojans should have played their Friendship Trophy match against Blazers last weekend on account of having only two players named to the national squad and not three as was previously stated.

Last week Trojans listed UK-based professional Damon Ming as one of three players among the club?s ranks called to national team duty although the player had been officially released from Somerset Cricket Club last September to pursue a pro career at Barnet FC.

?When they (BFA) announced Somerset had three players in the national team I thought they were referring to Karl (Trojans skipper Karl Roberts), Clevon (Hill) and Timmy (Figuerido) . . . I didn?t know they had included Damon in their ranks,? said Brown.

?Damon was released to play for a team in England. That?s just like having Goater (Reading striker Shaun Goater) come back and play for North Village while his contract in the UK is still in effect.

?I guess when you have certain people in high places the ball tends to bounce your way. And this sort of thing has been happening for years.

?If one club wants certain things to happen, then they seem to get their way. But I?ve seen times when we have made the same requests and been denied.?

Brown said this was something he had had to deal with both as a player in the past and now as a team official.

?You just have to learn how to go with the punches,? he continued. ?You can say things about it but then the BFA feel you are getting out of hand and then they try to ban you.?

Brown said Boulevard now intended to take the Ming issue up with the association once coach John Rebello returned to the Island tomorrow.

?It?s just garbage and when the coach (Rebello) returns we will then decide what course of action to take,? he added.

When contacted yesterday, Trojans coach Dennis Brown said: ?I will not get into any debate with anyone. The decision was made and the matches will be played at a later date.

?If the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn?t cry. A request was made and we adhered to it.?

Blazers currently have two players with the national squad in the Caribbean, defender Robert Wilson and veteran striker Marvin Belboda.
