International debut for young equestrians
JayLynn Hines and Cori Williams will represent their country for the first time this weekend when they compete at the Caribbean Equestrian Association?s championships in the Cayman Islands.
The 11-year-old Hines has been riding for six years while Williams, 15, started her career at Inwood Stables in Hamilton Parish and now rides for Chatham Hall school in Virginia.
Bermuda will play host to the same event ? involving riders from Trinidad, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbados ? in May at the Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street.
Meanwhile, this weekend will see a combined training show take place at the Centre. Dressage classes catering to all standards, from novice to Prix St. George, will be on offer.
And on Sunday there will be jumping rounds available as well, starting at two foot, three inches and going up to four foot.
Each rider will be allowed to compete in one dressage and one jumping event, with the results from each being combined to determine the winner.
