Runs, runs and more runs - that's what fans of batting superstar Brian Lara can expect come Sunday at the National Sports Centre!

The West Indies cricket captain and double world record-holder arrived for his first visit to Bermuda last night ready to show why he is the world's No.1 Test batsman and one of the game's most dynamic stroke-makers.

After being greeted by former Sports Minister - now Minister of Labour and Home Affairs - Randy Horton and other officials at the airport, a tired Lara was whisked off to his hotel. His publicist Geoffrey Wharton-Lake promised the 34-year-old will deliver a master class in batting when the Brian Lara Select take on a Bermuda Select this weekend.

"I'm sure (it will be) a lot of entertainment," declared Lara's spokesman.

He added that the left-handed Trinidadian "has seen the support that Bermudians have given West Indies cricket and thinks it's important that he forges ties with the Bermudian community".

This, Wharton-Lake noted, is all part of Lara's renewed emphasis on the development of West Indies cricket.

Fans can meet Lara tomorrow at an autograph session at Cable & Wireless Customer Service Centre at the corner of Burnaby Street and Church Street, starting at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the following junior cricketers have been chosen to attend Lara's coaching clinic on Sunday morning at the National Sports Centre (NSC).

Rianne Richardson is the lone girl invited.

All juniors are asked to bring full kit plus a set of whites and report to the NSC's north field by 9.30 a.m.

The assistant coaches - George Cannonier, Allan Douglas Sr, Winston Reid, Peter Philpott, Jon Carey and Bean Stevens - are asked to bring their coaching kits.
