Lewin continues pursuit of first

Top female sailor Paula Lewin continued her charge up the leader board after day three of the Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championships.

Lewin, fourth entering the day got off to a stellar start in race six, crossing the line second, and followed this up with an eighth place finish during the final outing of the day.

The Bermudian, gelling well with her crew of sister Peta and close friends and teammates Leatrice Roman and Lisa Neashum in the unfamiliar J22 craft, successfully overhauled Nancy Haberland to seize third place, while serving notice to Carol Cronin of her desire to enhance her status even further.

Lewin now stands on 27 points, compared to 24 for Cronin, with Jody Swanson now fourth with 29.

American Cory Sertl (14), barring tragedy, appears to have the regatta well in hand after recording her second 'bullet' to go with a fourth in the opening race of the day.

Three more races are scheduled out of the Annapolis Yacht Club, with two slated for today, and one tomorrow.
