Top local female sailor Paula Lewin stands fourth after five races at the prestigious Rolex international Keelboat Championship, currently underway in Annapolis, Maryland.

Lewin's day began disastrously as a poor start in the opening race left her floundering well down the 57-boat fleet.

But she showed great skill in weaving her way back up the fleet to eventually finish 14th.

The next outing was nothing short of spectacular as the Bermudian got away cleanly, and ended up second across the line.

"Today was good, it was shifty and we managed our worst start, but we were able to crawl back," said Lewin.

Racing continues until Friday.
