PHC Zebras seem to have discovered the fountain of youth.

Already boasting the likes of 40 year-old midfielder Anthony (Rango) Stovell in the line up, has now learned former top poacher Sammy Swan is about to make a comeback to Premier Division football ? at the tender age of 43!

Swan, who had trials at English club Oxford United in the late 1980s, has been training consistently with Zebras for several weeks and, according to former team mate Jack Castle, has looked "fairly sharp" during practice sessions at Spicelands Middle School Field ? makeshift training facilities for the Warwick-based club while their Stadium Lane clubhouse undergoes major redevelopment.

"With the experience, knowledge of the game and the good shape that he (Swan) is in, I think Sammy will cause a few headaches in the Premier Division," said Castle.

"I think he will be a good asset to the team. And I'm really impressed with the team so far."

So far Zebras have yet to pick up a win, suffering identical 2-1 league losses to league and FA Cup champions Dandy Town and Devonshire Cougars.

However, the club's fortunes could take a turn for the better with Swan poised to make a return to the team, said Castle.

Under existing Bermuda Football Association transfer rules, Swan, also a former BFA Most Valuable Player Award recipient and Premier Division leading goal -scorer on multiple occasions, is eligible to transfer from Commercial B Division outfit, PHC Raiders, to Zebras.

Any move on the player's part would be considered as an "inter-club transfer", said a BFA spokesperson.

Swan, who also formed part of the Leroy (Nibs) Lewis' Zebras squad which advanced to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Club Championships in the mid 80's and played for Bermuda, coached PHC to successive First and Premier Division championships in 1997-98 and 1998-99 ? the only club to have achieved the feat so far.

Meanwhile, also reported to be back in training at Zebras is crafty forward Kenny Mills who seems to have rediscovered his passion for the game after missing most, if not all, of the past two seasons.

In any case, both player's arrivals will certainly be good news for Zebras coach Mark Wade who continues to come to terms with the off-season losses of Stephen Astwood and Dennis Russell.

Astwood has since taken up residence at Somerset Trojans while Russell appears to be enjoying his new role at Boulevard Blazers.

Zebras romped to the BFA First Division championship undefeated last season, again living up to their title as the "strike force" after banging in 52 goals along the way.
