Lightbourne's fitness struggle

Kyle Lightbourne could be missing from action for a further two weeks as he continues to struggle with an ankle injury.

The Island striker is 'desperate to get back' into the first team reckoning for Third Division Macclesfield Town but despite rumours to the contrary he is apparently not even close.

Lightbourne has played just one game in the last two months since limping off at Bristol Rovers in October. He had hoped to be back for the visit of Leyton Orient on Saturday but has yet to resume full training.

"Kyle is still struggling," said Macclesfield boss David Moss. "It's proving difficult for him to get over. But he's desperate to get back. He's seen what we're trying to do here and he wants to be part of it.

"I haven't had a chance to look at him yet since I arrived. But I'm looking forward to his return."

Lightbourne has hit three goals in 15 appearances for Macclesfield since his arrival from Stoke in the summer.

Meanwhile, with his star man out the manager is in the market for additional firepower.

Moss said: "There are three players I've got my eye on. I'm also looking for a forward to give us more competition up front."
