Marshall shoots for Invitation three-peat

Blake Marshall will be chasing his third consecutive title today when he tees it up in the junior championship flight final of the Mid Ocean Club Men?s Invitation match play tournament.

Standing between Marshall and a fourth title overall will be Riaz Rattansi, a member of the Wentworth club in England, who was the medallist earlier this week following a round of 75.

Rattansi earned his spot in the final when he brushed aside Mid Ocean Club member Peter Smith four and two.

In one of yesterday?s most exciting matches, Marshall needed extra holes against current club champion Jonathan Ingham.

Marshall made a 30-foot putt on the first play-off hole for birdie, and Ingham couldn?t make his ten foot putt after having hit a superb second shot.

In the Senior Division, Tom Stearns was upset in his bid for three in a row by long time visitor Lee Paton from New York.

Paton will face Loren Singletary who defeated local Donald Airey five and four.

Ray Daue from Maryland took senior medallist honours, shooting 75, but was upset in the semi final.

More than 100 players started the week?s play, 60 from from six different overseas countries.

All the flight finals take place today at Mid Ocean Club, the first starting at 8.00 a.m.
