Marshall takes title once again
Blake Marshall captured his third successive and fourth overall Mid Ocean Club Men's Invitation match play title when he overcame a stiff challenge from visitor Riaz Rattansi in yesterday's junior championship flight final.
On a blustery day, Marshall needed all of his home course knowledge to carve out victory, never leading the match until the 17th hole before sealing the win, two up.
Rattansi, a member of the Wentworth Club in England, was ultimately let down by his putter.
The pivotal hole was the 16th where Marshall made a remarkable birdie after being buried in deep rough from his tee shot. Rattansi was unable to match that, and Marshall seized the momentum.
In the senior championship flight final, Loren Singletary was victorious over Lee Paton two and one.
Paton got off to a slow start, was soon two down and never managed to recover against Singletary's consistency from tee to green.
A simple par on the 17th would wrap things up for Singletary on his first trip to Bermuda.
