Marshall third in Canada

Bermuda's Brittany Marshall continued her rise towards athletic stardom by grabbing third place at the Canadian National Junior Championships over the weekend in Calgary, Alberta.

Thirteen-year-old Marshall showed no inhibitions while competing in the Under 20 category against athletes six years her senior, as she uncoiled a season personal best heave of 12.15 metres during qualifying.

The distance held up through the first stage and into the final.

Marshall was the only non-Canadian in the event, and due to her status as a foreigner was prevented from receiving a medal.

Marshall was at the meet courtesy of her being awarded a grant from the Ministry of Youth and Sport, this after also being afforded the opportunity to attend the Bill Falk's Throwers Camp in Providence, Rhode Island back in June.
