Match Play champs missing

New champions will be crowned in the Bermuda Amateur Match Play Golf Championships, which get underway tomorrow at the Mid Ocean Club.

Neither Robert Vallis, who is overseas, nor Jenny Chattock, due to pregnancy, will be defending their titles in the prestigious tournament which begins with a medal round followed by four days of match play.

The event, one of the highlights on the Bermuda golf calendar, culminates in a 36-hole championship final on Saturday.

The men?s section features 18 players from the US and Northern Ireland as well as some of Bermuda?s top amateurs including Nick Mansell, Jarryd Dillas and David Allison ? with former pro Anthony Mocklow returning to the amateur ranks.

There will be two US ladies featuring in the women?s event with Ebonie Burgess and Susie Elton expected to be among the leading contingent of Island players.
