Moran takes honours
In the lead after day one, Melody Moran was the overall champion of the FEI World Jumping Challenge 2005 Bermuda competition, Category ?B?, held at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre last weekend.
Riding eight-year-old Hanoverian warm blood, Wanderpreis, aka Prince, Moran completed the four rounds with no faults and in a total time of 115.73. Each course consisted of between ten and 12 jumps with a maximum height of 1.05m. The competition, which has two categories, consisted of two days of jumping with two rounds each day over different courses designed by an FEI-designated course designer.
This year?s course designer was Julio Orma Carrasco from Argentina.
The horse and rider combination with the least amount of faults in the fastest total time is the winner.
Category ?A? will be held this weekend at the same venue, starting at noon on Saturday and at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
It was a tight race after the first day, with Christy Holder on her mount L.A.Baltic Star, just behind Melody and Prince, with two clear rounds, but with a time difference of just under six seconds ? a slim margin when there are two more rounds to jump.
The other competitors consisted of Heather Littlejohn aboard Inwood?s Touch the Sky, Ki Minors on Inwood?s Lightly Frosted, Alison Dyer-Fagundo on her mare Isabella, Heather McKirdy on China Doll, Christina Dove and Skipping Stone, Mr Sandman and Frances Weddup, Jana Outerbridge on Masterpiece, and Jaime Masters on Madonna.
