Nelson medals at Masters

Fifty seven year-old Colleen Nelson has become what is believed to be the first Bermudian individual medal-winner ever at a World Masters Swimming Championships.

Competing this week at Stanford University in California, Nelson snatched a bronze medal in the 100 metres breaststroke in the women?s 55-59 age category, and then went one better in the 50 metres breaststroke in which she claimed silver in a time of 41.76 seconds.

Nelson, who divides her time between her home in Warwick and another home on Vancouver Island, Canada, also placed ninth in the 50 metres butterfly with a time of 37.10.
